Getting Started

I should note that these images are the last ones I edited using my old, dying monitor. The old monitor knew three colors (pink, pale green, & charcoal), and had a contrast ratio of about 5. As a result, it is likely that these images here have too much contrast. Hopefully, future images will be better balanced, once I use the new monitor when I edit images.

Jolie has been on the scene for a while, but we've never been able to connect until now. First impression: Jolie has a terrifically expressive face and a lovely, sexy, curvy figure. She is quite confident & comfortable with her body. This all makes a great combination for a model.

I am a big, big fan of these "getting started" setups, where I photograph the model in the clothes she wears to the door. Presumably, the model is comfortable in her "street clothes", and it gives us a little time to build a relationship. And frankly, it builds my anticipation, which is exciting to me.

Early impression: Jolie is a very sensuous person.

The concept is simple -- the model removes her clothes. But surprisingly, every model does it differently. Some do it simply, as a matter-of-fact exercise. Some are shy. Some are quick. Some take their time. Some tease.

Jolie does it well. She's very erotic as she does this.

I think you can get a sense of Jolie's style by looking at these pictures. Think "sexy". I ask her for a peek down her shirt, and my temperature rises.

Okay. I've been patient. I've been teased. I ask Jolie to remove some clothing. Her clothing comes off easily.

I think that Jolie is one of those models who really enjoys being nude.

My process is this: I spend a little time at the beginning of each setup to make some test exposures, adjust lights, discuss concepts, position the camera on a tripod -- in short, all the technical aspects of the images. Then, I just hold the cable release, carry on a conversation, encourage the model to move, and provide direction.

We talk about whatever -- our jobs, favorite restaurants, whatever. Yet, at moments, Jolie does give me a lusty look. Like I said, I think she enjoys being nude.

Jolie does make those jeans look sexy, but I do like my models nude. I ask her to remove her jeans.

Sometimes, I see a lush & glorious figure like this & I wish I could sculpt.

My studio name is "Looknsee" as in "Look And See". To me, there are subtle differences between "looking" and "seeing" -- in order to "see", one has to be aware of more than what is immediately in front of you. I expanded the camera's view my moving back & including Jolie's discarded clothing on the floor. So what if you can't see all of Jolie's girly bits -- the inclusion of the clothing on the floor adds a bit of excitement to this image.

I'm getting excited now. Jolie removes the final article of clothing, which was all that was standing between her & total nudity.

To state the obvious: Jolie has a body type that is different from my typical model. I should hasten to mention that this doesn't represent a particular choice on my part. In fact, I'm very pleased to be working with Jolie. She has the one trait that I value above all others in models: she is very confident, and that makes her mesmerizing to me. That confidence makes her sexy, and you can see that in her face.

In fact, for a first sitting, we managed to find lots of ways for Jolie to express her eroticism.

First sittings with a new-to-me model are often the most difficult: I really don't get a sense of what the model looks like until I've photographed her myself, in a variety of different lighting schemes. In addition, there is no predicting the chemistry that we'll have.

So far, I'm very pleased. Time to see Jolie in some different light.
