Meet
another new (to me) local model,
Kaitlynn. I found her on the OneModelPlace
website. (I've said it
before -- photographers: get
thee a website! Potential models
will check out your site before
deciding to pose for you.)
Okay, this is weird -- when I meet a new model, I rarely know what she looks like. Sure, I've typically seen pictures of her, but somehow the combination of our interaction and my lighting setups often reveals someone who looks quite different from the pictures I've seen. Often, models are taller or shorter than I expected, for example (Kaitlynn was quite tall).
So, I do what I often do, to break the ice with a good model. I ask her to start by removing her clothes for me. This accomplishes a couple of things:

Kaitlynn was immediately comfortable.

That was easy. Kaitlynn has a 100% natural & real body and glowing skin. Once again, I'm struck by how radically different the digital (color) & the film (B&W) images look. I still prefer the film images. I've had an assignment for myself in mind for quite some time -- I wanted to create a short sequence of images (three to five) that tell a story: at a minimum, I want to create a beginning, middle, and conclusion picture. I don't know why this is so difficult for me -- I haven't been able to do this yet. These "getting undressed" setups are the closest I've come to this assignment. Try it yourself & share your results! This sitting continues on the Small Mirror page.
