There's
a lot to like about this particular
t-shirt. It doesn't hide much -- you can
see every curve on Natalia's fine
figure. I am particularly thrilled with
the curve from Natalia's ribs to her high
waist. I think I also corrected a minor
misjudgment from our last sitting -- note that
the camera angle is low, which makes her legs
look long & lovely. |
|
Her
every move is graceful. |
I don't mean to be
crude, but I've seen Natalia bare-assed naked, and I've seen dozens of
pictures of her, in various phases of undress. However, I've
never seen her sexier than in these pictures on this page, despite the
fact that her womanly bits are all covered.
I love the cut of
her t-shirt -- it covers without concealing. I love how it's
both tight & wrinkly. I think images that
invoke senses other than sight are the most powerful, and when I look
at that t-shirt in these images, I want to feel that material as I run
my hand over Natalia's ribs. Look at her -- she's one bad hand
away from losing a strip poker game, and that can fire your
imagination. Very exciting.

|
I
think it was Natalia's idea to
don her glasses, but I readily
agreed. Like her pleased
"You like the way I
dress" statement, this
made me feel that I wasn't
just a generic photographer
for her. She wanted me
to see her, not just her
figure or her face.
Similarly, it says to me that
she is comfortable being
herself & showing herself
to me.
Speaking
of which -- perhaps I liked
the t-shirt because of her
figure, but her posture was
wonderful, too. I also
like the little highlight
along her left side which
showed off her shape.
|
I've said earlier that
I love third sitting with good models. The first sitting is
typically a "get acquainted" sitting. I guess I really
don't have a good idea of what a model looks like until I photograph
her myself. You can only get a hint about how a model moves from
looking at pictures of her. Natalia is exceptional in her
movement -- look at this. On most models, this would be an
awkward pose, but Natalia pulls it off with grace.
|
|
|
Yes,
that t-shirt is something
special. I love how the
wrinkles invite your eye to
dither all over her
torso. Is it just me, or
is that t-shirt not very
concealing?
White
is difficult to do well in
photography -- you want to
keep the tones as light as
possible while maintaining the
appropriate amount of
details. To complicate
this further, this is a
digital image -- because of my
eye problems, I haven't been
doing too many film exposures
lately. I am skilled
with film & can place
details in the highlights as I
wish, but with the digital
camera, I don't quite have the
same skill. But we've
done well here.
I
particularly like the shadow
cast by her right arm and the
highlight along her left side.
It's also nice that her leg is
roughly perpendicular to the
camera axis -- it makes her
legs look long.
|
Heretofore, it wasn't
clear that Natalia was wearing the t-shirt and only the t-shirt (and
her glasses). I was determined to do some full nudes with
Natalia, but she looked so terrific in that t-shirt that I was
reluctant to move too fast.
I liked how the
t-shirt hugged Natalia's form, so I asked her to touch it a bit.
I specifically asked her to slide her hand under the shirt. This
is an exciting image to me.
And yes, her legs
look shapely & terrific.
|
|
|
I
figure that this image is a
favorite of Natalia's since
she chose it as her main image
on one of her online modeling
portfolios soon after I showed
it to her.
(Note
to models: I don't mind
you using any of the photos we
make together for your own
self-promotion, but I
appreciate getting appropriate
attribution & a head's
up.)
I
think this is a very sexy
image -- she has a focused
look on her face, her figure
is well displayed, and her
pose is unique &
graceful. I even like
that we can see her nude hip
& shapely legs.
|
I ask Natalia to stand
besides the stool. She starts to take off the t-shirt, but fool
that I am, I ask her to wait a bit before that.
We actually had a
little conversation about whether to leave her glasses on the chair
(you were looking at her glasses, weren't you?). I finally
decided to let it be for a while -- it'll eventually disappear from
later images.
I believe that men
& women think differently, especially when it comes to composing
photographs. Women tend to be focused on the central object of
interest & don't care much about anything extraneous in the image;
men tend to be focused on everything within the boundaries of the
image & decide about foreground, background, composition, and
props. So, me worrying about the glasses is a man-thing.
Take my word for it.

|
|
Here's
a closely cropped image. I don't make
many of this kind of image. I'm a little
shy & very polite -- when I'm talking to a
woman, I'm making eye contact & speaking
respectfully. Maybe that's part of the
appeal of making nude photographs -- I can let
my eyes wander over the model's body without
feeling like I'm disrespecting her. I
guess I'm just an old-fashioned guy. |
|
Did
you notice that her glasses
are still on the chair?
I bet you didn't. This
is what magicians call
misdirection.
Like
I said earlier, I was
determined to ensure that we
got a little nude modeling in
that day, and as much as I
liked the t-shirt, I figured
it was time to move on.
Isn't
it amazing, with her head
& hands still caught in
the t-shirt, that Natalia is
still graceful?
|
|
Natalia
is young & looks younger, yet she has
confidence & wisdom beyond her
years. I think when I look at her face
in images like this, I see her being really
comfortable with me, and that is very
gratifying. It didn't take much
encouragement from her, but I enjoyed this
sitting a big lot.
I
also find this kind of image highly
enticing. We can see that she is totally
nude, but none of her "girly bits"
are showing, and that makes this image
exciting & sexy to me. Natalia has
glowing skin to go with her innate grace, and
she looks perfectly fit & healthy. |
We didn't intend to
create sexy images, but I don't think either of us were bothered by
what we were doing. I certainly wasn't.
My formula for
creating sexy images is to first realize that the most important sex
organ is the brain, and that you've got to fire up the
imagination. You can't produce sexy images if you intend to show
everything -- in fact, the less you show, the sexier the image can be.
So, we choose more
poses that show that Natalia is nude but where none of her girly bits
are displayed. You can judge the results yourself.
|
|
|
Maybe
I'm showing you too many of
these covered nude on the
chair images, but I am drawn
to the expression on Natalia's
face, especially the
eyes. I feel that we
connected really well this
sitting.
|
I just told you how
captivating I found Natalia's eye contact was, and here I present an
image without any eye contact. Still, I like the introspective
feel of this image.
In general, I am a
big, big fan of eye contact, and as you can see, most of my images
have the model looking directly into the lens. Here are some of
my thoughts about the images without eye contact:
- I really don't
like images where the model is staring off into the distance or
looking out of the window. Such are often cliché, and I
usually wonder what has drawn the model's attention away from the
photographer. As a photographer, it makes me feel snubbed.
While candid photography is popular, it is not popular with me --
I want the interaction; I don't want to be a spy or a fly on the
wall.
- An acceptable
alternative is to have the model's eyes focused on something
within image frame. That way, at least we have an idea about
what's drawing the model's attention.
- Closed eyes is
also an option. If handled well, closed eyes can contribute
a sensual feel to the image, but in order to make this work, there
should be a little justification for the model closing her eyes.
I tend to like closed eye pictures that include the model's hands.
This image works (at least for me) because of Natalia's hands -- it
invokes the sense of touch for me.
|
|
|
Hands
can be very expressive -- it
is a good idea to pay
attention to a model's
hands. I like how
Natalia's face is framed on
one side by her hands & on
the other side by that stray
wave of hair.
I
also like her great posture
& how her waist & hips
look in this light.
|
|
Well,
we did well -- we made some "not
nude but nude" images with the
t-shirt, then we made some "nude
but not nude" images of Natalia
on the chair. In both cases, I
like the contrasts.
That's
the stuff you can see in the
pictures. What you can't see is
how exciting this sitting was for
us. All it took was a couple of
nice comments from Natalia, plus a
smile or two, and I was greatly
inspired. What better thing can
a model do for a photographer?
As
I said earlier, I had only one concept
to try for this sitting, and I had set
it up in the back of the house.
Natalia loved the idea and was very
interested in working there, so we
move on to that setup.
This
sitting concludes with Close
Canyon
