Models often ask me "what should I wear", and I'm often at a loss to answer -- it's my intention to get them out of their clothes anyhow, so for the most part, I don't care what they wear, as long as it's loose (so it doesn't leave marks on the model's skin).

But I've always liked how Natalia dresses herself -- she dresses crazy!  She has a genuine fun & funky style.  She has a crazy way of mixing patterns, and she mixes utility with decoration, and most importantly, she pulls it off with style.

So, here's what Natalia wore when she knocked on my door.

Women are amazing.

I do this "Getting Started" setup often.  I explain the overall concept early on, before the actual sitting date.  But in general, past the description of the overall concept, I don't really provide the model with a lot of direction.  At most, I just tell them when I'm ready for them to start taking off their clothes, and past that, they don't need much direction.

Every model has their own style of disrobing.  Here, Natalia chooses to remove her bra before removing her top.  There's something so simple & seductive about that.

After an absence of so long, it's easy to wonder how Natalia has changed.  Somehow, she seems even more confident than before.  And more seductive.

It's also tempting to think about what has remained the same over these past few years.  For example:  Natalia still moves with great grace & confidence.

Natalia likes her hat.  It suits her.

I would have a difficult time describing my own style.  It's not really "fine art" -- it's more "casual nude portraits".  But there's a fine line between what I do and "fine art".

Natalia explores different shapes & poses, and I snap this image.  I like it quite a bit.  I've been thinking that many "fine art" photographers, including me, make pretty & happy images a lot, while there is a whole range of human emotions that are available.

This image reminds me of Van Gogh's drawing, which he entitled "Sorrow".

So much for "serious art".

People have occasionally asked me why I photograph the nude, and I'm typically at a loss to answer.  But I do know one thing -- my favorite part is the experience of the actual photography session.  Thus, I treasure images like this:  Clearly, Natalia is having as much fun as I am.  That makes me feel like I'm doing something right.

Natalia leads a very active life, and I think that is evident by the strength & vitality in her body.

Working with Natalia again -- it just seems like old times.  Forget the images -- It's such a joy to be around Natalia that all these images are just a bonus.
