Meet Jessica. She's a young college freshman visiting her family in a nearby town during the year-end holidays. She put together a profile on One Model Place, which I saw, and we were lucky to be able to connect & collaborate. Jessica is interested in learning photography, and she was very attentive to everything that we did -- I even invited her into my darkroom for a little printing. During this sitting, I fell in love with the initial lighting setup, and with minor variations, we used this lighting for practically the entire sitting. That's unusual for me, especially when I am working with a model for the first time -- I usually use a few different lighting setups, just to see how the model looks under a variety of lighting. Good golly, did I have a good time photographing Jessica! You never know what's going to happen when you work with a model for the first time. Jessica is a bit young for me (barely legal), and all things being equal, I would prefer to work with models who are more experienced, but Jessica is beautiful, confident, and secure. She was totally natural & comfortable in front of the camera, and her curiosity about what I was thinking was encouraging for me. And at the end of the sitting, she said the best thing I could hope to hear: "I had fun; I'd love to do that again." Let's hope that she returns to town often during breaks & vacations.
